2010 New Leaders Fellowship

The CPL National New Leaders Fellowship takes place in Washington, D.C. and will run twice in 2010:

 

2010 Session 1: January - May
Applications are closed.

 

2010 Session 2: August - December
Applications are not yet open.

CPL National New Leaders Fellowship

For recent graduates and young people seeking full time work


CPL’s New Leaders Fellowship helps talented young people of color, women and people who identify as LGBT who are looking for full-time employment jump-start their careers in the progressive movement. 

 

You can also learn about the New Leaders Program in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

 

 

Who Should Apply

Individuals who are interested in starting their careers in the progressive movement should consider applying. CPL will also be looking for individuals who:

  • Are committed to progressive political change
  • Have demonstrated leadership experience
  • Are between 21-30 years old (in general, there may be exceptions)
  • Have no more than 2 years professional experience in progressive organizations

We also have a limited number of positions available for New Leaders Fellows who already have a job with a progressive organization, but are looking for additional support and training to get to the next level.

Qualified applicants will be connected to leading progressive organizations in Washington, D.C., based on their background and experience.  During the Fellowship, CPL New Leaders Fellows will receive a full-time salary from the organization where they are working.

Training & Coaching
New Leaders Fellows will receive ongoing support from CPL, including:

  • Leadership training and skill-building opportunities
  • Career coaching from experienced progressive leaders
  • Networking opportunities with CPL’s alumni, partners and supporters

Fellowship candidates must be able to commit to the entire five-month program and be available for full-time work. Candidates are also required to participate in regularly scheduled trainings, coaching sessions and networking events as part of the fellowship.
