The Full List of 2009 Partners

CPL’s New Leaders Internship Program brings passionate young people of color, women and LGBT youth to Washington DC for paid, on-the-job experience in a top progressive organization, leadership training, coaching, networking and community building.

We are proud to have a class of New Leaders interns that represents the full range of diversity found in communities across America.

This year’s class is over 50% first-generation Americans and over 40% first-generation college students.  Over 90% are people of color and 30% are members of the LGBT community.  They come from as far away as Arizona, California, Kentucky and Texas and as close as Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

They have worked on issues on their campuses and in their communities ranging from immigration reform to interfaith dialogue to access to higher education to LGBT equality to environmental justice. Click on the individual photos below to learn more about each of our amazing New Leaders.

You can also meet the 2008 class , 2007 class and the 2006 class, as well as the 2009 National New Leaders Fellows, 2009 Ohio New Leaders, and the 2009 Pennsylvania New Leaders.
