Suma Setty

Suma Setty

Hometown: Oak Brook, Illinois

Placement: USAction

Born to Indian immigrants in Chicago, Suma learned early on the importance of idealism and staying true to your values and beliefs. A recent graduate of Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota she received her B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies. During her undergrad years, she began to develop her personal philosophies on identity and justice. She recently interned at the Minnesota Women’s Consortium, a state-wide network of organizations committed to the rights of women and girls. While working at the Consortium, she realized her passion and admiration for issue-based coalition building. She is most passionate about environmental sustainability and believes this concept goes hand in hand with justice movements that account for diverse perspectives. She believes that government transparency and accountability are necessary components for a just society.
